On the first day of the office, we were given a few things to have a look at and design. One of them being some patch designs. Originally ThruDark had six different patches, either with the UK flag or the ThruDark name/logo.
I wanted to keep the skull theme going as that's something that was relatively consistent within the office.

I had the idea to design some location patches; this consisted of a desert or snowy mountain. I thought this would be a fun touch, as many of ThruDark's consumers have a specific location they stick to, such as hikers and climbers, all within their own location, being a desert environment or snow. Having the location as a patch will add some personality and memories to their clothing.
When thinking of ideas for a patch, I remembered ThruDark's collaboration, which includes illustrations of animals such as octopuses and crabs. For now, I'm focusing on the octopuses, which I have mixed with skulls.
Below you can see some rough sketches I've done to show off my idea to ThruDark. This shows my idea well and will be clear enough to see their options, so I know what to add and what to also change if they arent too fond of it.

UPDATE ON PATCHES
On the first day in the office, Gaz asked us to be creative and think of a few patch ideas, which we did. In a previous blog post, I shared all of the rough sketches I designed, but after meeting with Gaz in the ThruDark office, he informed me that he liked the cactus design below.
He asked if I was able to add some colour to the cactus and outline the design as if it was a patch.

In the first image above, I added some colour to the design. I have the basic outline in black and white and added green. I was unsure of what colour to go for, as cactus' in the desert are normally beige, but I thought I'd go for the safe colour of green.
On a few of the sketches, I have left the skull as an outline, but in my eyes, it looks stronger once I've filled it in white.
In the Bottom photo, you can see I have outlined the illustrations. Gaz told me to make them look more like a patch, and after googling some patches, this meant outlining the design, so I know what the final product would look like. I have a mix of the basic outline, which is the most popular. I did a rectangle along with the outlines, which would work best as it's quite a weird shape and would be flimsy if it was turned into a patch.
